A dental implant is a titanium root which is used in dentistry for supporting restorations. It resembles a tooth or a group of teeth for replacing missing teeth. Dental implants are the most ideal solutions for generating health among individuals who lost teeth in an injury or a periodontal disease. Many dental implants use commercially pure titanium.
These implants are high-tech in nature. When compared to traditional bridgework and dentures, dental implants are more advantageous. They don’t depend on neighboring teeth for support and provide natural look for teeth. Dental implants may replace one or more teeth without affecting bordering teeth. A removable partial denture use can be eliminated by dental implants. A support can be provided for a denture. Security and comfort are provided by dental implants.
Two types of dental implants are in use today. They include endosteal implants and subperiosteal implants.
Endosteal Dental Implants:
These are most commonly used. Screws, cylinders, and blades can be surgically placed into the jaw bone by these implants. One or more prosthetic teeth are held by these implants. These are mostly used as an alternative for patients with removable dentures or bridges.
Subperiosteal Dental Implants:
These are placed on the jaw bone. Metal frameworks posts are used which protrude through the gum for holding prosthesis. These are applicable for patients who cannot wear conventional dentures. They are also used among people having minimal bone height.
Dental implants are tooth-saving, reliable, and aesthetic for use. So many dentists prefer to use dental implants. Many patients also feel confident by dental implants.
